O’Dowd’s Little Dublin | Plaza, Kansas City

The Plaza is an odd scene, like a mall turned inside out.  Instead of palm trees growing indoors, there are Venetian facades on the buildings outdoors.  Rumor is it’s the first American ‘mall’ development.  It’s interesting.  But it’s very, very deliberate.  Everything is thought out.  There are bums asking for change, but they may very-well be paid city workers.

O’Dowd’s seemed like a good retreat when shopping after Thanksgiving in the Plaza. Buy-nothing day doesn’t apply to drinks, right? But $19.50 for three beers? What a fucking joke.

It should be a great bar. Has worn-out wood, a great beer selection, upside-down whiskey dispensers, and stained glass. Around the corner, drinks were half-off. Maybe Dowd saw what a sucker I am and stuck it to me. Next time I’ll drink and ditch.
