John Harvard’s Pub | Harvard Square, Boston
It’s an academic Rock Bottom Brewery, sort of a mass-produced brewpub version of Red Lobster. Which is fine. Gets the job done. Tasty beer, etc. It’s just … safe. Kind of sterile. There won’t be a bar fight here. There won’t be a prostitute working the crowd. There will likely be children coloring on their place mats.
We went on maybe the coldest day in the meteorological history of Boston. 2 degrees, tops. Guy outside had a sign: hedge fund went bust, got spare change? Very funny. We tried to explore Harvard Square, but we couldn’t handle the cold. We beelined for John Harvard’s and ordered some beers. At the time, it was the greatest, warmest place in the world.
